Uganda’s SFC Praised for thwarting attacks during NAM and G-77+China Summits

Kampala, Uganda HABARI DAILY I  Brigadier General David Mugisha, Commander of the Special Forces Command (CSFC), extended his heartfelt congratulations to the SFC and sister security organs for their exemplary role in ensuring the successful hosting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77+China summits in Uganda. 

Speaking at a gathering at Sera Kasenyi Training School on Saturday, January 27, 2024, Brig. Gen. Mugisha expressed gratitude to the security forces for their dedication and professionalism during the high-profile events.

“Let me take this grand opportunity to congratulate you all for successfully completing NAM and G-77 + China summits. In the same breath, let me also thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the UPDF for wisely steering the forces.

He has given us accommodation, clothing, first-class training but above all, transformed the UPDF from a rag-tag army to a professional one; we are very proud of him,” remarked Brig. Gen. Mugisha.

The Commander’s remarks were part of a celebration hosted for SFC soldiers who played a crucial role in securing guests from January 12th to 28th, 2024. Brig. Gen. Mugisha highlighted the nation’s pride in its security forces, which successfully secured 130 Heads of Delegation, including 16 Heads of State, 9 Vice Presidents, 16 Prime Ministers, and seven special categories, totaling 1189 delegates.

Brig. Gen. Mugisha specifically commended Brigadier General Charity Bainababo, the Deputy Commander of SFC and Chairperson of the SFC NAM/G-77 steering committee, for her meticulous planning and dedication to achieving positive results. 

He expressed gratitude to directors and commanders across different security agencies, acknowledging their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the summits.

The Commander emphasized the importance of solidarity, teamwork, and hard work, terming them as the driving forces behind the operation’s success. He revealed that the Commander in Chief, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will host all security organizations involved in the operation at a celebration slated to take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

In conclusion, Brig. Gen. Mugisha conveyed congratulations from the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, praising the forces for keeping detractors at bay. The success achieved during the NAM and G-77+China summits was dedicated to the entire members of the UPDF.

The celebration at Sera Kasenyi Training School was attended by directors, commandants, commanding officers, senior and junior officers, and militants from the Special Forces Command.
