The late Hilda Doreen Rwabugahya
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I A preliminary post mortem report has revealed that the late Hilda Doreen Rwabugahya, the former Manager of Stanbic Bank’s Masindi branch, died of heart failure.
A heart attack, also called a myocardial infarction, occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is severely reduced or blocked. The blockage is usually due to a buildup of fat, cholesterol and cholesterol and other substances in the heart (coronary) arteries.
According to a medical officer at Mulago National Referral Hospital, where Rwabugahya’s body was transported to for a postmortem examination, heart failure was the likely cause of death.
“Preliminary reports found a clot in her system. This is suspected to have blocked the major artery to the heart,” she said without divulging more details.
Reports say neighbors heard Rwabugahya screaming for help and rushed her to Supreme Medical Centre in Masindi Town while she was unconscious.
She was later referred to Kitara Medical Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Annet Aminat, the Administrator at Kitara Medical Hospital, said that by the time Rwabugahya arrived at the facility, she had already passed away.
Masindi Central police station is still conducting investigation about the death
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson said they are yet to get a copy of the post mortem report from Mulago Referral Hospital, and that investigations are still on to find the cause of death of the victim.
Kenneth Agutamba, the Head of Communications at Stanbic Bank Uganda, earlier on described Rwabugahya as a dedicated and hardworking individual who had served Stanbic Bank Uganda for 17 years.
According to an expert at Mayo Clinic, a heart attack occurs when an artery that sends blood and oxygen to the heart is blocked.
“Fatty, cholesterol-containing deposits build up over time, forming plaques in the heart’s arteries,” he said, adding: “If a plaque ruptures, a blood clot can form. The clot can block arteries, causing a heart attack. During a heart attack, a lack of blood flow causes the tissue in the heart muscle to die.”
