The late Wayengera
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Security operatives have arrested three key suspects who are believed to have played a direct role in the abduction and murder of Godfrey Wayengera, who was a finance director at Compassion International and Rotarian.
According to security sources, the suspects, who are all male, were arrested last week in a series of co-ordinated operations conducted across Mukono and Isingiro districts.
A few days ago, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) joined the hunt, following reports that the assailants were dressed in military-like uniforms and drove a Police-like pick-up truck.
It has been reported that other suspects are still on the run and are being tracked by the security operatives.
One of the suspects was picked up in Mukono, while the other two were apprehended in Isingiro district, said a security source on condition of anonymity.
Wayengera, 45, the founder of Beloved Daycare and Nursery School in Mukono, was abducted on the night of June 10, 2025, just as he approached his home in Nsuube, Mukono.

The next morning, Wayengera’s body was discovered by residents, who alerted the Police. Wayengera was laid to rest a fortnight ago in Buwalasi, Sironko district.
