5. Types of Content Licences
Depending on the nature of the request, Habari Daily Uganda may offer the following licensing arrangements.
A. Single-use licence
Authorises a specified article, photograph, graphic or other item to be used once in an agreed publication or project.
B. Non-exclusive republication licence
Allows an authorised user to republish specified content while Habari Daily Uganda retains the right to publish, license or distribute the same material to other users.
C. Syndication licence
Allows an approved media organisation or publishing partner to receive and republish agreed content under specified conditions, potentially on a recurring basis.
D. Commercial licence
Authorises the use of content in commercial products, corporate publications, presentations, advertising or other revenue-generating activities, subject to agreed restrictions.
E. Photograph, video and multimedia licence
Covers the authorised reproduction, display, distribution or use of specific visual or audiovisual material.
F. Exclusive licence
Where the relevant rights are available, Habari Daily Uganda may negotiate an exclusive licence for a defined period, territory, platform or purpose. Exclusivity must be expressly agreed in writing and does not arise merely because a user has paid a licensing fee.
All licences are limited to the rights expressly granted in the relevant agreement.
6. Licensing Fees and Payment
Licensing fees are determined according to the nature and scope of the proposed use.
Factors that may influence the price include:
- The type and length of the content.
- The commercial value and intended purpose of the material.
- The size and type of the intended audience.
- The number of publications or platforms involved.
- The geographical territory of distribution.
- The duration of the licence.
- Whether exclusive rights are requested.
- Whether editing, translation or additional production services are required.
Habari Daily Uganda may provide individual quotations, package rates, recurring syndication arrangements or negotiated rates for long-term partners.
All fees, payment deadlines, applicable taxes and any additional charges will be communicated to the client before the licence is finalised.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment does not grant rights beyond those specified in the licence agreement.
7. Attribution and Editorial Integrity
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, licensed content must acknowledge Habari Daily Uganda as the original publisher.
A standard attribution should read:

Where appropriate, the attribution should include a direct hyperlink to the original article.

11. Licence Duration, Termination and Renewal

Where a licence expires, the licensee must discontinue uses that are no longer authorised unless the parties agree to renew or extend the licence.
A licence may be terminated in accordance with its written terms, including where the licensee materially breaches the agreement and fails to remedy the breach within any applicable notice period.
Termination does not automatically extinguish obligations that accrued before termination, including outstanding payment obligations or other provisions that expressly survive termination.
12. Disclaimer and Responsibility of Licensees
Habari Daily Uganda makes reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy and reliability of its editorial content. However, content is published for informational purposes and may require updating as events develop.
A licensee is responsible for ensuring that its use of licensed content complies with the agreed terms and applicable law.
