The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus has pledged full support for the government’s budget agenda, following a high-level meeting chaired by President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.
Top on the caucus agenda is increased investment in infrastructure, particularly road development and railway construction, as well as preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Uganda will co-host. Legislators emphasized that these projects are critical for boosting economic growth, improving connectivity, and enhancing Uganda’s global profile.
Members also endorsed interventions aimed at improving livelihoods, including restocking programmes in the Teso, Lango and Acholi sub-regions. Additionally, the caucus backed salary enhancements for primary school teachers, secondary school arts teachers, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors, and security personnel.
On the legislative front, the caucus resolved to support the passage of the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025, highlighting its importance in safeguarding Uganda’s national interests and institutional independence.
