Officials of Ecobank and Interswitch Uganda enjoy a Kodak moment after the signing ceremony
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Ecobank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU with Interswitch to promote digital banking and financial inclusion among the banking community.
Grace Muliisa, Eco Bank’s managing director signed on behalf of the bank while Moris Seguya, the Country General Manager at Interswitch Uganda signed on behalf of his organization.
The collaboration will among other things enable Ecobank customers gain access to a total of 650 ATM locations.
“Being that Interswitch is in possession of an advanced payment infrastructure, our clients will be able to transact in the confort of their homes and get hussle-free access to a range of banking services,” said Muliisa.
This was during the signing ceremony, which was held at the EcoBank headquarters along Kafu Road in Kampala last week.
Muliisa further noted that the strategic partnership will also help them streamline and expand their financial service offerings.
“By joining forces, both institutions seek to improve payment efficiencies and broaden access to digital banking services for individuals and businesses,” she said in an exclusive interview after the signing.
She said the move will additionally help boost their financial inclusion strategy, where they aim at wider access to banking services for under banked communities.

“We are not in doubt that this will drive economic growth and inclusion by opening new touch points for Verve Card holders who are spread among numerous commercial banks, Savings and Credit Co-operative Society (SACCOs) as well as enterprises which include but are not limited to Fintechs,” said Muliisa.
She further pointed out that their clients will have access to wider ATM access, so that they benefit from increased access to cash withdrawal and banking services through Interswitch-powered ATMs, even in regions where Ecobank has no physical branches.”
Moris Seguya, the Interswitch Uganda Country General Manager said that the partnership reflects the shared vision of Interswitch and Ecobank Uganda to enhance accessibility and convenience through advanced digital banking services.
He said they remain committed to delivering innovative payment solutions that empower individuals and businesses with seamless financial services.
“By leveraging our respective strengths in this partnership, Interswitch and EcoBank are committed to running a mutually beneficial service which ultimately serves the customer efficiently and conveniently,” he said.
The Ecobank clients will gain access to multiple platforms, such as Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), mobile application services, interoperable acceptance of the Verve card from across the Interswitch network.
