Bryan White
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I City socialite Bryan White has finally shared his side of the heartbreaking story surrounding the death of Nalubwama Caroline, revealing chilling details of what happened on that fateful night.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Bryan White recounted that on the 23rd, he lit a candle before stepping into the boys’ quarters. Moments later, he says, a sudden burst of fire erupted out of nowhere.
“I had just placed the candle inside when flames shot up. Caroline was inside screaming for help, saying she was dying. I ran back to save her, only to find the fire blocking our path,” he narrated.
In a desperate attempt to help, Bryan says he accidentally kicked over a basin containing petrol, worsening the blaze. “We eventually made it outside, but she had already been burnt. People poured water on us despite my pleas to stop,” he added.
Even after the ordeal, Bryan recalls that Caroline was still conscious and speaking, claiming that someone was trying to harm them. The bedsheet she had used for cover had reportedly melted onto her skin, prompting them to rush her to Mabirizi Hospital on Salama Road before she was later referred to Kiruddu Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“She kept begging me not to call her parents because she feared they’d only see it as an opportunity to ask for money,” Bryan said softly. “She was on oxygen, but I believe fear and trauma took her life, not the burns alone.”
The socialite further revealed that Caroline had a strained relationship with her family. He alleged that during her time working in the UAE, she frequently sent money home, which her mother misused.
Bryan also refuted earlier claims that the fire had been caused by a gas explosion, saying that was false. However, he admitted that he practices traditional customs and maintains a shrine at his home, describing himself as “a cultural man.”
