HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Ugandan football lovers who will resort to buying physical tickets will not be entertained at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole during the do-or-die game between the Uganda Cranes and South African Bafana Bafana.
“All tickets should be bought exclusively through online platforms. All physical tickets currently in circulation are fake or duplicates,” said officials of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
Dr. Dennis Mugimba, the LOC Communications Chairperson pointed out that ticket fraud had become a serious concern.
“This followed the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to stop issuing physical tickets following Match Day One on August 4,” he said, adding that they have directed the stewards at Namboole Stadium to reject such tickets, since they will be fake or duplicate,” he warned.
Mugimba further explained that the ticketing system at Namboole detects counterfeit and duplicate tickets, and entry is granted only to the first holder to present a valid barcode.
He also cautioned fans against sharing their e-tickets. “Those printing tickets from the online portal should also ensure high-quality prints so that all features, including the barcode, are clearly visible.”
Ticket prices remain at Shs 10,000 for ordinary, Shs 30,000 for silver, and Shs 50,000 for premium seats. Payments can be made via MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or bank cards (Visa or MasterCard).
Mugimba also advised fans to sit in their allocated sections, adding that movement between sections id prohibited.
