HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Believers should embrace identity, discipline, and spiritual surrender as they navigate an uncertain world, MTN Uganda’s Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge has advised.
Preaching during the “Commanding the Future Conference,” which run from November 12 to 16 and was hosted by Pastors Robert and Jessica Kayanja at Lubaga Miracle Center Cathedral, Mulinge advised believers to connect spiritual principles with practical leadership.
She drew on the story of Joseph, who maintained faith while imprisoned, as an example of perseverance in dark seasons.
“Even though he had been in prison for a very long time, he still chose to believe,” she said. Linking the story to her own journey from modest beginnings, she reflected, “Who am I as Sylvia, a daughter of a government worker? I didn’t have a godfather, but I have a father who is my God. Because of that, I chose to believe that anything and everything is possible.”
Mulinge urged believers to root their identity in God’s view rather than society’s labels or personal insecurities. “When your identity aligns with your purpose, when you see yourself the way your creator sees you, and when you walk in that authority, your future expands to match your spiritual posture,” she said.
She encouraged affirmations like “I am favored,” “I am disciplined,” “I am growing,” and “I am becoming” as tools for shaping destiny.
Beyond spiritual declarations, Mulinge emphasized the importance of practical systems in life. Drawing on James Clear’s Atomic Habits, she said, “You do not rise to the level of your goals; you fall to the level of your systems.”
Using Joseph’s preparation for Egypt’s famine as an example, she highlighted how planning and structure translate divine revelation into tangible outcomes.
Addressing fear, she reminded attendees that courage is not the absence of fear but the mastery of it. “The presence of fear does not mean the future will not come. It means what you are believing God for is bigger than your current capacity to understand,” she said.
Surrendering to God’s timing, she added, allows believers to grow into the people capable of carrying the destinies they pray for.
