HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has officially announced the dates and structure for its major national meetings and conferences scheduled for later this month.
In a press briefing held at the party’s headquarters in Kampala, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong outlined the roadmap for the events, which are expected to run from August 20 to 28, 2025.
The meetings will take place at two primary venues — the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (Nakawa) and the Kololo Independence Grounds.
“Between August 20–22, we will hold the Central Executive Committee (CEC) Meeting, while on August 23, we will hold the National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting,” said Dr Tanga Odoi, the chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission.
He added that on August 25, the party will hold Special Interest Groups (SIGs) National Elective Conferences, and that on August 27–28, they will hold an Elective National Conference.
He said that arrival and accreditation for each event are scheduled a day before.
Delegates include top party leaders, NRM Members of Parliament, district and city chairpersons, diaspora representatives, and leaders of the youth, women, and workers’ leagues. Observers appointed by the National Chairperson will also be present.
For SIGs conferences, delegates will consist of MPs representing youth, workers, and persons with disabilities, as well as district-level executives of those groups.
“All delegates will be accredited at the Nakawa ICT institute. To promote transparency, the party has confirmed that the official list of accredited delegates will be displayed at district offices and at the party headquarters on Kyadondo Road at least one week before the events,” said Dr Odoi.
These national meetings are expected to shape the NRM’s future direction as the country gears up for the 2026 general elections.
