Bobi Wine (L) embraced Pallaso wholeheartedly
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Musician Pius Mayanja, aka Pallaso, has announced his full backing for opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), as the presidential campaigns gains steam.
The singer paid a visit to Bobi Wine’s office, where the two embraced before engaging in a light conversation. Pallaso, who brands himself the King of the East, told Bobi Wine that his decision was about standing with all Ugandans who feel left behind.
“I’m proud to be part of this historic moment. This is not just your struggle, Mr. President, but for every marginalized Ugandan. You and NUP have my full support,” Pallaso said.
Bobi Wine welcomed the gesture, thanking the Malamu hitmaker for “choosing to stand on the side of the people.”
“This struggle is not mine alone. It is for every Ugandan. As musicians, we have a powerful voice to inspire change,” Bobi Wine said, adding that more entertainers still need to be convinced to join the cause.
The move adds another twist to the Mayanja family’s political affiliations. Pallaso’s brothers, Jose Chameleone and Weasel, have openly aligned with the ruling NRM, after previously showing support for Bobi Wine.
Pallaso’s declaration is already being viewed as a boost for NUP, with his influence in music circles expected to play a role during the campaign season.
