Boda boda (motorcycle taxi) accidents are a major public safety issue in Uganda, accounting for a significant percentage of all road fatalities and injuries. The high number of crashes is attributed to factors like reckless driving, a lack of helmets, poor road discipline, and weak enforcement of traffic laws.
These accidents result in severe injuries and frequent fatalities, with hospitals often overwhelmed by victims, particularly at the Mulago national referral hospital.
