
Rotarian Peter Kimbowa will be the keynote speaker during the 2-day event
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Rotary District 9213 is set to hold a two-day Rotary Means Business Expo, at Lugogo in Kampala.
The expo, which will kick off this Saturday June 14th ,and end on Sunday, June 15th, is expected to draw as many as 10,000 people and feature 62 exhibitors.
According to Edward Luyombya, the Chairman, Rotary Means Business Fellowship Uganda, the expo will bring together Rotarians and Retractors that have running businesses and want to promote them, in addition to associates and sponsors who are bent on attracting people’s attention.
He said that over 62 local enterprises have booked with them, and will display their mechandise for people to buy.
“The expo will be held under the theme ‘Connecting Bridges and Unlocking Opportunities,’ and will focus on how participants can use synergies and business linkages to support each other and grow,” he said during a press conference held at the UMA conference Hall in Lugogo on Friday.
He said in order for any investor to grow, no matter how small, is through collaboration and creation of partnerships.
“We want participants to work in that direction and grow their businesses,” he said.
Luyombya said exhibitors are coming from the education sector, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), food processing, agro-processing, as well as financial services.
“These are the key sectors that we have opted to promote this year. Our fellowship focuses on promoting members with a passion in business in various ways.”
He added that one of the ways they have chosen to train enterpreneurs in the Rotary fraternity is to promote their businesses to the outside world.
“That’s why we are encouraging members to buy from each other.”
Maggie Naimanye, the chairperson, organising committee, said during the weekend event, they also officially unveil the Youth Innovation Challenge, an initiative aimed at grooming creativity and innovation within the youth.
She said that they want all the proceeds that come from this Expo to be pooled together and ensure that the young generation can realize their dreams by creating unique solutions in this economy.
The initiative, which is expected to be launched by Rotarian Ann Nkutu, the governor of district 9213, will also feature Rotarian Peter Kimbowa as the keynote speaker. Entry fee to the expo is sh10,000 per head.
