Capradossi features for the Uganda Cranes
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Uganda Cranes’ defender Elio Capradossi is by any means the new kid on the block.
The centre back, who made his debut for Uganda Cranes in July this year against Botswana, has signed a short-term contract with Italian Serie B side, AC Cittadela.
Although coach Paul Put did not summon him for the recent games against South Africa and Congo because he did not have a club, the calm and collected defender had already impressed many spectators, and were waiting for his return.
Capradossi, who has been without club since leaving AC Lecco early this year, was awarded the contract to play for the club until the end of the season.
Capradossi shakes hands with his new manager at AC Cittadela
Born to an Italian father and Congolese mother in Entebbe, Capradossi moved to Italy at an early age. This background made him eligible to represent three nations—Italy, Uganda, and DR Congo, before ultimately choosing to play for the Uganda Cranes.
Capradossi began his career in 2010 in the AS Roma Academy, where he progressed steadily. He made his senior debut for Roma in 2015 but managed only two appearances before being loaned to Italian sides Bari and later Spezia, where he began to shine.
His move to AC Cittadella offers him a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills in Italy’s competitive Serie B.
The 28-year old defender has gone on to play for several other Italian Clubs including Bari, Spezia, SPAL and Cagliari.
