Uganda Cranes players in camp
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Players of the Uganda Cranes are likely to smile all the way to the bank, no matter how the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) turns out.
Organisers have disclosed that they are guaranteed Shs 715 million even before kicking a ball. This followed CAF President Patrice Motsepe’s announcement earlier this year that there will be a 75% increment in prize money.

They further said that for the first time in the tournament’s history, CAF has committed up to Shs 37 billion in total prize money to be shared among the 19 competing teams.
According to the new prize money structure, the eventual winners of the tournament will pocket up to Shs 12.5 billion. The runners-up will walk away with Shs 4.3 billion, while the third and fourth placed teams will receive Shs 2.5 billion and Shs 2.1 billion respectively.
Quarter-finalists are each assured of Shs 1.6 billion, while teams that will finish third in their groups will earn up to Shs 1.1billion, and those that will end the group stages in fourth or fifth place will each take Shs 715 billion.
The tournament which is in its eighth edition, has four groups. Groups A, B, and C each having five teams, while Group D consists of only four.
