HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Uganda’s U-17 national football team made history on Tuesday when they advanced to the round of 32 in the FIFA U17 World Cup.
Uganda clinched their first ever victory at the FIFA U-17 World Cup by edging out France in a 1-0 win over France in Group K Action.
The 1-0 triumph propelled Uganda into the knock out rounds, and additionally declared the country as a rising force in youth football.
The result additionally means that Uganda settles for third place on four points same as Group K leaders France and Canada, who finished in second place.
Chile, too, ended with four points but ended in fourth place due to an inferior goal difference.
The top eight of the 12 third-ranked teams progressed to the knockout stage to join the 12 group leaders and 12 runners-up to complete the 32 teams.
The game, which was played at the Aspire Zone Pitch 4 in Al Rayyan, Qatar, Uganda put up a resilient performance and showed that it is a force to reckon with.
