HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Stanbic Bank Uganda has been named the Best Investment Bank in Uganda at the prestigious Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, cementing its position as the country’s leading corporate and investment banking institution.
The accolade was announced by the London-based financial magazine on July 17, 2026, recognizing Stanbic Bank’s outstanding contribution to financing Uganda’s largest economic transformation projects and providing innovative financial solutions for both government and the private sector.
The award comes during a landmark year for the bank, which is celebrating 35 years of operations in Uganda. Stanbic Bank, the flagship subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL), has played a central role in supporting infrastructure development, industrial expansion and corporate growth across the country.
Commenting on the recognition, Stanbic Bank Uganda Chief Executive Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa said the award reflects the institution’s commitment to driving Uganda’s economic transformation through its Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division.
“For us, Corporate and Investment Banking is where our purpose, ‘Uganda is our home; we drive her growth,’ most truly comes alive. It is the engine through which we empower our local corporates to expand their operations, create meaningful jobs, and contribute significantly to domestic revenue,” Kalifungwa said.
“It is also where we partner most closely with the Government of Uganda to deliver the essential national growth projects that define our future. We are incredibly proud of the impact we have delivered, and 2025 stands as a key highlight of that journey, for which we are glad to be recognized by Euromoney.”
He said the international honour was particularly significant as the bank marks 35 years of service in Uganda.
“As we celebrate 35 years of service, this international recognition from Euromoney could not be timelier. It serves as a powerful validation of our journey from our inception to becoming the institution that stands today as a bedrock of Uganda’s financial system. It reaffirms that our strategy of fostering shared growth remains as relevant and effective now as it has been for over three decades,” Kalifungwa added.
According to the bank, the award recognises its ability to structure complex financial transactions, including financing major infrastructure projects and supporting industries that are driving Uganda’s economic growth.
Paul Muganwa, Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda, attributed the achievement to the expertise and commitment of the bank’s investment banking team.
“This accolade is a testament to the talent, resilience, and technical sophistication of our CIB team. They work tirelessly to turn complex financial challenges into sustainable opportunities for our clients, ensuring that we move beyond mere transactions to foster long-term prosperity.”
