The mangled structure of Balaam’s car after the accident
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I “Thank God for His mercy,” Balaam Barugahara, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs kept on saying as he narrated how he survived death with a whisker.
The head on collission was so bad that the boda boda rider lost his life while two members of the minister’s team sustained serious injuries.
The bloody accident happened on Tuesday in Kagadi District while the minister was traveling to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference.
“Thank God for His mercy. I’m grateful for our driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvers that saved us,” he said repeatedly.
In a statement he issued later, Balaam expressed gratitude for divine protection and praised his driver’s quick response.
“This quick judgement and manoeuvring helped prevent further loss. May the deceased’s soul rest in peace. My condolences go out to the family. I also wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
He also confirmed that he and his team are in a stable condition.
