Ziza Bafana on stage
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Dancehall star Ziza Bafana has once again taken aim at fellow musician Bebe Cool, accusing the veteran singer of trying to derail his career.
In a recent media interview, Bafana claimed that several artists have attempted to block his progress, but he singled out Bebe Cool as one of the most persistent.
“I thank God because I cannot be bewitched, but many people have tried to stifle my career. I’ve heard of cases where money was paid to media houses to stop playing my music, and Bebe’s name kept coming up,” Bafana said.
Although he expressed respect for Bebe as a pioneer in the industry, the Pomini hitmaker described him as “not a good person,” insisting that he tried to use underhand methods to block his rise.
Bafana also threw shade at Bebe’s artistic approach, accusing him of copying Jamaican star Buju Banton instead of carving out his own style.
“I don’t copy Jamaicans like him. I compete with them. Gagamel itself is Buju Banton’s concept. Even if Bebe releases many albums, he can’t go international because the foundation he laid was selfish,” he added.
This is not the first time Bafana has attacked the Wire Wire singer. Earlier this year, he accused Bebe of blocking him on social media. At the time, Bebe dismissed the claims, saying his accounts had been hacked and that Bafana was “speaking out of ignorance.”
