Moses Magogo, the FUFA boss
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I The Lord Mayor, Elias Lukwago has added his voice to that of the popular singer Jowy Landa, to publicly call on the FUFA President Moses Magogo to resign following controversy surrounding the new Premier League format. The format reportedly resulted into Vipers SC’s refusal to appear for their scheduled Kitara league game.
“Yesterday, football won, the biggest stakeholders (the fans) won. @VipersSC won the hearts of every football fan, not just from KCCA, not from Kitara, not from Villa, but from the entire football community. At this point, Magogo should just resign,” Landa wrote on social media.
The call for action comes amid criticism of FUFA’s handling of the new league format, which was introduced this season. Under the revised structure, the Uganda Premier League has already featured two games, including the highly anticipated Kitara fixture.
Vipers SC’s decision to skip the game has sparked further debate among fans and local leaders on this new format.
Adding his voice, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago urged FUFA to reconsider its decisions. “My last message to Magogo: please rethink and rescind your preposterous decision for the sake of salvaging our local soccer – the key source of solace and therapy to some of us,” Lukwago said.
The Uganda Premier League is already underway, and the absence of Vipers SC at the Kitara game has left the football community demanding clarity and accountability from FUFA leadership.
