Dave Hotel, Lungujja
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Fresh details have emerged in the ongoing investigations into the brutal double murder at Dave Hotel and Suites in Lungujja, Rubaga Division, after prime suspect Allan Ssempala reportedly gave a chilling confession to detectives.
According to investigators, Ssempala admitted that the killing of hotel manager, Shivani Asasira was meant to eliminate her as a witness after he had already attacked the security guard during a botched robbery. Investigations have since revealed that Asasira was the wife to the Bugiri District Police Commander.
During interrogation, Ssempala is said to have revealed that he had previously stayed at the same hotel as a paying guest for about two weeks, funding the stay with Shs8 million he allegedly stole from his uncle.
Police say he spent the money extravagantly, checking in with his girlfriend and living lavishly until the funds were completely exhausted.
After checking out, Ssempala reportedly relocated to Nansana, where he began living with a friend after failing to afford rent or hotel bills.
While there, detectives say he started plotting a return to the hotel after recalling that the security guard owned a Tecno smartphone he had admired during his earlier stay.
“He told us he went back to steal the phone, believing it would be easy to take,” a source close to the investigations said.
However, events turned violent when the guard resisted.
“He confessed that he attacked and killed the guard after he refused to hand over the phone,” the source added.
Moments later, the suspect encountered manager Asasira Shivani. Fearing she had either witnessed the attack or would alert authorities, Ssempala allegedly decided to kill her as well.
“He said he eliminated her because he thought she was going to report him to police,” detectives revealed.
Investigators have also confirmed that the slain manager was married to the Bugiri District Police Commander (DPC), a revelation that has drawn even greater public attention to the case.
The murders, which shocked residents of Lungujja, were initially discovered after the hotel owner found both bodies in separate rooms. A hotel vehicle was also stolen from the premises but has since been recovered following police operations that led to Ssempala’s arrest alongside other suspects.
Police say inquiries are still ongoing to determine whether the suspect acted alone and to piece together the full sequence of events leading to the killings.
Authorities have vowed that the suspect will face the full force of the law as the case file nears completion.
