President Museveni with members of the outgoing Cabinet today, 4th May 2026
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I President Yoweri Museveni has today hosted a luncheon in honour of the outgoing cabinet at State House, Entebbe.
Under Ugandan law, the outgoing Cabinet and Ministers remain in office until a new Cabinet is sworn in following the president’s inauguration to ensure continuity.
According to Article 111 of the Constitution, the Cabinet and Ministers continue performing their duties to ensure government continuity.
During the event, President Museveni commended members for their service and contribution to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
He also praised the cabinet for its historic role in steering the country to middle-income status, noting that the milestone reflects collective effort, discipline, and commitment.
The President also acknowledged the team’s role in the recent electoral process, describing the outcome as a collective achievement, while expressing confidence in continued economic growth in the coming term.
Museveni also emphasised the need for strong ethical leadership, calling for renewed commitment to integrity, accountability, and patriotism in public service.
He is scheduled to be sworn in for a seventh consecutive term on May 12, 2026, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
This follows his declared victory in the January 2026 presidential election, where he secured a new five-year mandate, extending his rule into a fifth decade.
