African Presidents grace the Ceremony of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I African Presidents, who included Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, William Ruto of Kenya and Paul Kagame of Rwanda, have hailed Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, for being a compassionate leader.
While attending the opening Ceremony of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and Zayed Sustainability Prize Award Ceremony at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the presidents were unanimous in their admiration for the monarch.
The annual event is a strong testament to the legacy of Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose visionary leadership in sustainability and humanitarianism guides the UAE’s mission to uplift livelihoods worldwide.
St. Kizito High School Namugongo in Uganda narrowly missed the winning prize in the Global High Schools category for the Sub-Saharan Africa region.
The Global High Schools presented project-based and student-led sustainability solutions to challenges faced by disadvantaged communities.
Open Map Development Tanzania, a group from the Republic of Tanzania, scooped the winning prize in the Climate Action category through their project on deploying flood management solutions that combine indigenous knowledge with geospatial data.
President Museveni, who is in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of his UAE counterpart, is expected to deliver an address tomorrow, Wednesday 15th January 2025, in which he will share with the audience his experiences in the remarkable journey of transforming Uganda under the theme, “Uganda’s Transformation: Leading Uganda’s Journey.”
