Centenary Bank has today 1st August 2025 officially launched the Rotary Club of Mapeera, a corporate-based Rotary club formed by its staff, marking another bold step in the Bank’s commitment to community service and ethical leadership.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Fabian Kasi, the Managing Director of Centenary Bank, reflected on the institution’s long-standing mission to serve Uganda’s underserved communities.
“For over 40 years, Centenary Bank has focused on transforming lives, especially among the underprivileged and in rural areas,” Kasi said. “Rotary’s values of service above self, dignity, and community upliftment closely mirror our own. This partnership feels like a natural alignment.”
Kasi also expressed optimism about the future of the new club, saying it has the potential to create lasting impact beyond the bank.
“With over 3,400 staff, this is not just a one-club story. We see an opportunity to grow and deepen our collective influence across Uganda,” he added.
District Governor Gerald Kitakule, who officiated the launch, praised Centenary Bank’s move to embrace Rotary within its corporate culture, noting the importance of integrating service into the business world.
“As society evolves, Rotary must also adapt,” Kitakule said. “Corporate clubs like Mapeera at Centenary Bank promote integrity and ethical leadership within organizations using the Rotary Four-Way Test. They become engines of positive change.”
The newly chartered Rotary Club of Mapeera is expected to spearhead projects focused on education, health, youth development, and financial literacy—key areas where both Rotary and Centenary Bank have made strong contributions over the years.
This development apparently marks a new chapter for corporate-based Rotary in Uganda. It also showcases how partnerships between business and service organizations can drive sustainable development at scale.
