HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Many good products are never purchased just because consumers are green about them, and this will be a thing of the past after the unveiling of Find.UG, an online billboard and business discovery platform aimed at increasing the visibility of local products and services.
The platform, developed by GophTechnologies, was officially launched with a mission to bridge the gap between Ugandan businesses and consumers by bringing information about local enterprises onto one easily accessible platform.
Mohammed Hazari, a Team Lead from GophTechnologies said Find.UG was designed as a complete visibility ecosystem that combines digital and traditional advertising channels to help businesses reach potential customers.
“And today we are officially launching the Find.UG project,” Hazari said. “Basically, Find.UG is a complete visibility ecosystem and a premier business discovery platform that we are offering to our advertisers.”
He said the project has three major components: the Find.UG website, social media platforms and the Find.UG magazine.
The website functions as a business directory where consumers can search for companies and service providers anywhere in Uganda, according to categories and locations.
Users can access information about businesses, including their products and services, locations, opening hours and contacts, and can communicate with them directly.
Hazari said the platform currently features about 19,000 businesses, giving consumers a wider range of local enterprises from which to choose.
“This is a complete business directory website,” he said, demonstrating how users can browse businesses by category and area, view their locations on a map and access individual company profiles.
The second component is social media, through which Find.UG intends to further popularise businesses and their products. The platform is active on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X.
The third component is the Find.UG magazine, which carries advertisements for businesses while extending their visibility to the website and social media platforms.
The first edition has 5,000 copies, which have been distributed across Kampala and surrounding areas. The magazine is free to the public and contains business information, articles, activities and promotional coupons.
Charles Luuka, another Team Lead at GophTechnologies noted that the magazine has also been designed to connect readers directly with businesses through QR codes.
“Through one channel, you’re getting advertisement in three different channels,” he said. “That is the web, our website, the print, which is the magazine, and the social, which is our social media,” he said
The approach, he said, gives businesses a 360-degree advertising opportunity at relatively low cost, with advertising packages for the next edition starting at Sh350,000.
Find.UG is also seeking to support small businesses that may not have money for advertising. Hazari said businesses can create listings on the website free of charge, enabling them to gain visibility among consumers searching for products and services.
The website serves the entire country, with businesses listed in cities and towns including Kampala, Gulu, Masaka, Mbale, Jinja and Entebbe.
For Ugandans without smartphones or reliable internet access, the physical magazine provides an alternative way of discovering local businesses. An electronic version of the magazine has also been made available through the website.
Luuka further noted that the project is intended to be long-term, with the magazine published quarterly. The second edition is expected in November 2026, with plans to expand distribution to other major cities and increase the number of copies.
He added that the initiative will also create employment opportunities, particularly in graphic design, platform maintenance and magazine distribution.
With local businesses able to list themselves for free and consumers gaining a central platform to discover products and services, Find.UG hopes to make unfamiliar Ugandan products more visible—and ultimately turn visibility into sales.
