Mugyenyi, Apecu, Appointed To Head Uganda’s Spy Agency

HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I  One of Uganda’s most outstanding Spy agencies, the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has got new bosses.

ISO plays a role in counterintelligence, protecting against espionage and safeguarding sensitive information, among other roles.

In a press release issued by the deputy Presidential Secretary, Faruk Kirunda,  President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Arthur Mugyenyi as the new ISO Director General. He the late Brigadier Charles Oluka, who died recently.

The appointment comes at a time when Uganda is seeking to strengthen its security and intelligence framework. Mugyenyi’s vast experience in security and intelligence is expected to enhance ISO’s operational effectiveness in addressing national and regional security concerns.

Mugyenyi is expected to continue streamline internal security operations and enhance intelligence gathering to safeguard Uganda’s national interests.

The President also appointed Tony Kinyera Apecu as ISO’s deputy director. Formerly, Col. Emmy Katabazi held the position, but he has been assigned a new role as Deputy Ambassador to a country that is yet to be named.

The appointments take immediate effect.
