HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I President Yoweri Museveni has received Letters of Credence from five Ambassadors Designate representing the United Arab Emirates, the People’s Republic of China, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Sweden and the Federal Republic of Germany, formally marking the beginning of their diplomatic assignments in Uganda.
The envoys presented their credentials to President Museveni at State House Entebbe in a ceremony that highlighted Uganda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation with its international partners.
The presentation of Letters of Credence is a key diplomatic procedure through which newly appointed ambassadors are formally accredited to their host country. It signals the commencement of their official duties and provides the basis for them to represent their respective governments in Uganda.
According to a statement from State House, President Museveni welcomed the newly appointed envoys to Uganda and wished them success as they take up their diplomatic responsibilities.

The five ambassadors include Fahad Abdulrahman Ali Al Bishr, Ambassador Designate of the United Arab Emirates; Wu Guangrong, Ambassador Designate of the People’s Republic of China; Angele van der Heijden-Samura, Ambassador Designate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Anna-Maria Olsson, Ambassador Designate of the Kingdom of Sweden; and Sigrid Ingelore Luise Sommer, Ambassador Designate of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Their arrival comes as Uganda continues to position itself to deepen economic, political and diplomatic partnerships with countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The Government is expected to work closely with the new envoys to identify areas where existing bilateral relationships can be strengthened and new opportunities developed.
The UAE, China, the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany are all important international partners for Uganda, with cooperation potentially spanning trade and investment, development assistance, infrastructure, education, technology, agriculture, health and other areas of mutual interest.
The accreditation of the ambassadors therefore provides a fresh opportunity for Uganda to engage their respective governments on national development priorities while also promoting Uganda’s interests abroad.
The Government said it looks forward to working closely with the envoys “to deepen bilateral relations, expand areas of mutual cooperation and strengthen the bonds of friendship between Uganda and their respective countries.”
For the ambassadors, the presentation of credentials formally opens a period of diplomatic engagement in which they will be expected to represent their governments, promote cooperation and facilitate communication between Uganda and their home countries.
Their assignments will also involve supporting citizens of their respective countries living or working in Uganda, while encouraging stronger people-to-people and institutional ties.
President Museveni’s reception of the envoys at State House Entebbe consequently represents more than a ceremonial diplomatic occasion. It establishes the formal relationship between the President and the new representatives while setting the tone for their engagement with the Ugandan Government.
The ceremony was attended by Vincent Bagiire Waiswa, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Henry Mayega.
