HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Several African Heads of State have arrived in Uganda to attend the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
CAADP is taking place at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Kampala. The three-day meeting, which kicked off on January 9th and is due to be concluded on January 11th 2024, with a ministerial session.
It aims to review the CAADP, the continent’s blueprint plan for fast-tracking agriculture development.

ETHIOPIAN PRESIDENT
The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Taye Atske Selassie arrived at Entebbe International Airport, and was received by the Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth, Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the AU and IGAD, Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, Dr Yahya Ssemuddu, UPDF Air Force Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. David Gonyi, Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, the Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons, Robert Munanura, and a delegation from the Ethiopian Embassy in Uganda led by Ambassador Etsegenet Yimenu.
PRESIDENT OF ANGOLA
The President of Angola, Joào Lourenço arrived in Uganda to attend theCAADP), and at Entebbe International Airport, he was received by the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth, the Ambassador of Uganda to Sudan, Yahya Ssemuddu, Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba and Hillary Bisanga, Director Human Resource Management- Uganda Prisons Service.
BURUNDI’S PRESIDENT
President Èvariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, arrived in Uganda to attend the CAADP taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo. At Entebbe International Airport, he was received by the Minister of State for Animal Industry, Bright Kanyontore Rwamirama, Uganda’s Ambassador to Burundi Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Matayo Kyaligonza, Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, Dr Yahya Ssemuddu, UPDF Air Force Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. David Gonyi, Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba and Hillary Bisanga, Director Human Resource Management- Uganda Prisons Service.
LIBERIA’S VICE PRESIDENT
The Vice President of the Republic of Liberia arrived in Uganda to attend the CAADP taking place at Speke Resort Munyonyo. Jeremiah Koung is representing Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the President of Liberia.
KENYAN PRESIDENT
The President of Kenya, William Ruto, also attended the summit and later departed after CAADP
SOMALIA’S PRESIDENT
The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also attended the summit and later departed after attending.
