HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Preliminary investigations have revealed that the woman that has been connected to his death was well known to him.
“It was not the first time they hanged out. It seems they were known to each other and connected,” says an investigator on condition of anonymity, since he is not authorised to talk about the sensitive matter.
Eva Mbabazi, a woman in her early 20s, has since been apprehended by the Uganda Police in relation to the death of Dr. John Spire Kiggundu. This individual is believed to have been the last person in the company of the deceased prior to his unexpected and tragic demise.
Dr. Kiggundu’s body was discovered at Dream Guest House in Lubowa along Entebbe Road under mysterious circumstances. The arrest follows witnesses’ reports identifying a young woman as the last individual seen with the CEO of Henrob Hospital.
SSP Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest and the circumstances that led to it.
“CCTV footage showed the suspect exiting the room previously reserved by the deceased. She obviously has a case to answer,” said Onyango.
He said they have taken her statement, and a general inquiry file was opened and forwarded to the state attorney for further advice.”
Although initial accounts suggested that the medical professional died of a heart attack, investigations are now in progress to determine if foul play might have occurred.
Dr. Kiggundu served as the president of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Uganda (ALSU). The public is being urged to refrain from disseminating speculation as the investigation continues.
