Mathias Mpuuga, PFF’s President
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has announced that it will not present its own presidential candidate in the upcoming 2026 elections.
Party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju during a press conference held at the party headquarters in Katonga flanked by the party’s leaders such as Lukwago revealed that PFF is currently holding discussions with the National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) to front a single candidate.
According to Ssemujju, the move is designed to strengthen unity among opposition forces and avoid splitting votes.
“Our priority is building a stronger, broader coalition for change. Fielding a separate candidate would only weaken that cause,” he explained.
The decision adds momentum to growing calls for the opposition to rally behind one presidential flag bearer ahead of the polls. If successful, the talks could mark one of the biggest collaborative efforts between Uganda’s major opposition parties in recent years.
