HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I The National Medical Stores (NMS) has confirmed an attempted robbery at one of its rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe, which was foiled by security agencies on the night of the incident.
According to NMS, the attempted break-in was detected early by its security teams, who worked jointly with the Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force to stop the suspects before any loss occurred.
“Our security teams, working together with the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force, swiftly detected and successfully foiled the attempted robbery,” NMS said in a statement.
The area around the warehouse was immediately cordoned off as a precautionary measure to allow security agencies to carry out investigations.
NMS assured the public that no medical supplies were lost, noting that the suspects were intercepted while still on site with the supplies.
“There was no loss of medical supplies as the suspects were intercepted with the supplies on site,” the statement added.
During the operation, two suspects sustained injuries and are currently recovering in hospital, while three others were arrested and remain in custody.
Despite the incident, NMS emphasized that its operations have not been disrupted.
“Operations at NMS remain uninterrupted, and we continue to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities,” NMS said.
The agency also reiterated its commitment to protecting its staff, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain, while thanking security agencies for their quick response.
