Suspects, exhibits lined up as crackdown intensifies
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Police have arrested 64 suspects during coordinated night operations carried out across different parts of the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area.
According to police spokesperson Kawala Rachael, the operations were conducted on March 2, 2026, between 8:00pm and 2:00am. She said the joint task teams targeted areas believed to be hotspots for criminal activity.
“The Uganda Police Force, together with sister security agencies, continues to conduct intelligence-led disruptive operations across the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area to dismantle criminal networks and restore public safety,” she said.
In the Jinja Road Division, operations were carried out in Naguru Go Down, Bank Village, and Naguru Village in Nakawa Division, leading to the arrest of eight suspects.
In Mukono District, security teams conducted raids in Wanyonyi, Namuyenje, Kyetume, and Nagwa, where 18 suspects were arrested.
Meanwhile, in the Kira Road Division, police targeted Kiwatule (Waniduuka) and Kamwokya, arresting 36 suspects. In Kira Division, two suspects were picked up during operations in Najjera, Kalintunsi, and Bulabira.
Police said the suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted.
Exhibits recovered during the operations include suspected narcotic substances and housebreaking tools.
Kawala urged the public to stay alert and continue working closely with security agencies.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing timely and credible information. Together, we shall keep our communities safe,” she said.
