The accident occurred at approximately 6:20pm near Arapai Ginnery in Amen Ward, Soroti City, eastern Uganda, leaving the vehicle extensively damaged and raising concerns about the condition of the former minister and members of his travelling team.

Odongo, who was travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser, reportedly survived the crash after the vehicle suddenly veered off the road under circumstances that remain unclear.
