Almorie Nagayi after beingcrowned Miss Uganda 2026/27 at Sheraton Kampala Hotel gardens on October 11, 2026
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Dreams and aspirations met determination when 19-year-old Almorie Nagayi from Masaka City was crowned Miss Uganda 2026/27, marking a defining moment in the young model and student’s journey from the national pageant circuit to the international stage.
Nagayi claimed the coveted title in the early hours of October 11, 2026, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel gardens, beating 21 other finalists in a competition that brought together beauty, talent, confidence and ambitions for social impact.
Competing as Contestant Number 19, she represented Masaka City and the Central Region, emerging as the successor to Trivia Elle Muhoza, who represented Uganda at Miss World 2026 in Vietnam.
For Nagayi, the victory represents more than a crown. It is the culmination of an emerging pageantry career, academic pursuits and an interest in international relations, with the added responsibility of representing Uganda at Miss World 2027 in Tanzania.
Road to the national crown
Nagayi’s success did not happen overnight. Her pageantry journey includes becoming the inaugural titleholder of Miss Uganda High School 2024/25, a milestone that provided an early platform for developing her confidence and public profile.
She subsequently represented Uganda at Miss Teen International in India, gaining exposure to international competition and the experience of presenting herself and her country before a wider audience.

The young Masaka girl now scaling the heights
Her latest achievement demonstrates the progress she has made since those early appearances, moving from school-level pageantry to winning one of Uganda’s most prominent beauty titles before turning 20.
The Miss Uganda competition has traditionally offered contestants opportunities to showcase their communication skills, personalities and commitment to causes beyond the runway.
For Nagayi, the national title now brings a bigger platform on which to promote her interests and prepare for the demands of international competition.
Prudence Bridget Nakato finished as first runner-up, while Lukia Balunywa secured the second runner-up position.
Beauty with a purpose
Beyond modelling and pageantry, Nagayi is championing financial literacy and vocational training for young women and girls through her Beauty With a Purpose project.
The initiative seeks to equip beneficiaries with practical knowledge and skills to manage money, establish small businesses and develop independent sources of income.
The project reflects her belief that empowering women economically can help reduce financial dependence while opening opportunities for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
In a country where many young people are seeking pathways into employment and business, the initiative offers an opportunity to connect the visibility of a beauty queen with practical community needs.
Nagayi has linked this work to her interest in international relations and her belief that education and vocational skills can improve the economic prospects of women and girls.
She also credits her mother as a source of inspiration, acknowledging the influence of family support in shaping her ambitions.
Her challenge will be to translate the project’s objectives into measurable outcomes, ensuring that the initiative reaches beneficiaries and delivers practical skills beyond the publicity associated with her new title.
An interest beyond the runway
Nagayi’s interests extend into diplomacy and international affairs. She has pursued training in foreign policy and international relations through programmes hosted by the American Center Kampala, the US Embassy Kampala and the Lincoln Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations.
These experiences complement her ambitions beyond modelling, offering exposure to discussions about international cooperation, diplomacy and global affairs. Her combination of pageantry, public engagement and international relations training could help her navigate the responsibilities that come with representing Uganda abroad.
The Miss Uganda title also places her in a position to engage audiences on issues affecting young women, education, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
Preparing for Miss World 2027
Nagayi’s next major assignment will be representing Uganda at Miss World 2027, scheduled to take place in Tanzania in September 2027.
She will follow in the footsteps of Muhoza, who reached Africa’s top six in the Beauty With a Purpose challenge and the top five in the Multimedia challenge at Miss World 2026.
The international competition will require Nagayi to combine stage presence with effective communication, cultural representation and a compelling social-impact project.
Her financial literacy and vocational training initiative could provide a foundation for presenting Uganda’s priorities around women’s empowerment to an international audience.
As she begins her reign, Nagayi faces the task of balancing her studies, modelling career and community engagement while preparing for the global stage.
At 19, the Masaka-born titleholder has already taken significant steps towards her ambitions. Her reign will now test how effectively she can turn the opportunities presented by the crown into lasting benefits for young women and girls in Uganda.
