The Swift Social App in action
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Ugandan innovators have unveiled a new social app to provide an alternative space offering fresh opportunities for community building, and localized monetization, as the platform seeks to connect young content creators with global audiences, brands and income-generating opportunities.
Swift Social App, which has launched in Uganda, brings together creators working in video production, photography, music, comedy, fashion, lifestyle, education, technology, sports and other forms of digital content.
The platform is designed to enable creators to showcase their talent, build digital brands, grow their audiences and develop sustainable careers beyond traditional media and entertainment channels.
Although newly launched in Uganda, Swift is already operating in 31 countries across Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. Its Ugandan operations are locally managed by Swift Platforms Uganda.
Bridging creator monetisation gap
The launch comes at a time when Africa’s digital creator economy is expanding rapidly, although many emerging creators continue to struggle to turn their online audiences into sustainable income.
Richard Kamya, Country CEO of Swift Platforms Uganda, said the platform was created partly to address the visibility and monetisation challenges facing emerging creators.

According to Kamya, 60 per cent of African creators earn less than $100 a month from their content, making it difficult for many to sustain creative careers.
At the same time, the African creator economy is projected to grow from $3.08 billion to $17.8 billion by 2030, creating a potentially significant market for platforms that can connect creators with audiences and commercial opportunities.
“Swift Social Media App is built around the belief that young people are not simply consumers of digital content. They are creators, entrepreneurs, and innovators,” Kamya said.
“Our goal is to provide them with a platform where creativity translates into visibility, strategic partnerships, and sustainable economic opportunities.”
Kamya said Swift wants to change the perception that content creation is merely a hobby, arguing that digital creativity can become a viable business for young people. “For many, it is a viable business,” he said, adding that their ultimate objective is to help creators move from simply producing content to building sustainable enterprises around their skills and audiences.
“We want to change the perception that content creation is merely a hobby,” a Swift Platforms representative said. “For many young people, creativity can become a profession and a business.”
Payments built into the platform
Swift combines conventional social media functions with financial tools intended to make it easier for creators to earn directly from their audiences.
One of the key features is Bless, an in-app payment and tipping system that enables fans and followers to financially support creators and exclusive content without leaving the application.
The platform also offers real-time communication, including one-on-one and group video calls, audio calls, direct messaging and group chats.
Creators can also post photographs and videos while using interactive community engagement tools to build and maintain audiences.
Simon Wamboga, Swift Platforms’ Chief Technology Officer, said the technology had been developed to combine communication, content engagement and financial transactions in one platform.

Simon Wamboga
“From a technological standpoint, Swift is designed to handle seamless real-time communication and secure financial transactions in a single, fluid experience,” Wamboga said.
“We have built a robust infrastructure capable of supporting high-engagement content while ensuring creators get paid directly for their work.”
Connecting Uganda to a global network
Swift’s presence in 31 countries is expected to give Ugandan creators an opportunity to reach audiences beyond the domestic market while allowing businesses to identify and work with local creative talent.
The platform is also seeking to support the broader creator ecosystem through networking, digital skills development, collaborations and access to creator opportunities.
For young Ugandans working in fields such as music, comedy, fashion, photography, technology and education, the platform presents an additional avenue to build audiences and establish digital identities.
The company also hopes to attract brands, private-sector organisations, development agencies and institutions seeking partnerships with creative talent.
Alternative digital space
The launch adds another player to Uganda’s increasingly competitive digital content ecosystem, where young people are using social media to build audiences, promote businesses, entertain and develop personal brands.
Swift Platforms is inviting young content creators, digital artists and storytellers to download the application, create profiles and showcase their portfolios.
As more Ugandans turn to digital content creation as a career and entrepreneurial pathway, the company says it plans to expand its creator community and introduce additional opportunities.
