Vinka
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Vinka has promised revelers “heaven on earth” during her maiden show, as the Ugandan singer prepares to take over Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, August 21, with a concert designed to celebrate her decade-long journey in music and give fans an unforgettable night of entertainment.
The Swangz Avenue-organised Vinka Live & Loud concert is expected to bring together thousands of music lovers for what organisers have described as a high-energy celebration of one of Uganda’s most recognisable female entertainers.
Addressing the media at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Thursday, Vinka and the organisers promised an experience that will go beyond an ordinary music concert, with a festival-style atmosphere, live band performances, surprise guests, elaborate stage production and interactive experiences.
Vinka said the show is primarily a tribute to the fans who have supported her career from its early days.
“This concert is a tribute to everyone who has danced, sang and stood by my side since day one,” she said.
Her promise to fans comes as she prepares to perform a catalogue that has dominated Uganda’s party scene for years. Revellers can expect live renditions of some of her biggest songs, including Chips Na Ketchup, Bailando, Love Panic and All Over You.
Rather than simply performing a succession of hit songs, Vinka has promised to turn her career story into a full live production, taking fans through the musical journey that transformed her from a backup dancer into one of Uganda’s leading performers.
The concert will therefore provide an opportunity for fans to relive some of the moments that have defined Vinka’s career while experiencing her music in a different setting.
Swangz Avenue Chief Executive Officer Julius Kyazze said the concert represents a celebration of the singer’s remarkable transformation and contribution to Uganda’s entertainment industry.
“This long-awaited concert is a celebration of Vinka’s humble beginnings as a dancer to a music powerhouse whose party anthems have dominated the Ugandan sound waves,” Kyazze said.
For fans arriving at Lugogo, the experience is expected to begin long before the main performance. Gates will open at 3:00pm, four hours before the main show begins at 7:00pm.
Organisers have encouraged revelers to arrive early so they can enjoy the festival atmosphere, DJ sets, pre-show activities and surprise performances before Vinka takes the stage.
The production itself is expected to be another major attraction. Organisers have promised world-class stage designs and top-tier lighting, while keeping the identities of some guest performers under wraps.
The mystery surrounding the surprise acts is expected to add another layer of excitement to the show, with fans being encouraged to come prepared for unexpected appearances.
The concert will also combine music with food, drinks and brand experiences. Fans will have access to cocktail bars serving Uganda Waragi cocktails, beer offers, photo booths and other interactive installations.
Uganda Waragi and Bell Lager have joined the concert as the official spirit and beer sponsors, respectively, adding to the entertainment package planned for the evening.
Roy Tumwizere, Brand Manager for Core Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries Limited, said Uganda Waragi was proud to associate with Vinka’s milestone.
“Vinka music is the definition of Ugandan spirit, lively, bold and undeniably loud. As the spirit that binds us, we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with her. Expect an unmatched Uganda Waragi experience with Vinka come Friday,” Tumwizere said.
Bell Lager Brand Manager Lillian Kansiime said the brand’s involvement was part of its continued support for local talent and celebrations rooted in Ugandan culture.
“Bell Lager has always stood for enjoyment and celebration. Vinka’s journey mirrors our own story of home-grown pride and excellence. We’re proud to raise a Bell with her fans this Friday and toast to a night Kampala will remember,” Kansiime said.
For those planning to attend, standard tickets are going for Shs35,000, while VIP tickets cost Shs85,000. A VVIP table accommodating eight people is priced at Shs4 million.
Tickets are available digitally through the MTN MoMo Ticketing platform, giving fans an opportunity to secure entry before heading to the venue.
The early opening of the gates is also intended to spread out the arrival of revelers and give them enough time to settle into the venue before the main performance.
For Vinka, however, the concert represents more than a single night of entertainment. It is a public celebration of a journey that began behind the scenes as a dancer and evolved into a successful music career built around energetic performances and party anthems.
Her promise of “heaven on earth” has consequently raised expectations among her fans, who will be looking to see whether the singer can match her words with a performance worthy of her maiden headline concert.
With her hit catalogue, live band, elaborate production, surprise guests and festival-style activities, Vinka is betting that Friday night will not simply be another Kampala concert.
Instead, she wants her first major headline show to become a defining moment in her career—and a night her fans will remember long after the final song is played.
