HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Enterprise Uganda, the country’s premiere institution in the field of enterprise development and Business Development Services, has got a new Board of Directors chairperson.
Richard Byarugaba, whose appointment was announced last week, currently works at Bank of Uganda as Executive Director in charge of Finance. He boasts of 32 years of working experience at the Central Bank, rising through the ranks up to the current level.
He has served in various departments of the Central Bank including Supervision Directorate, Financial Markets, Internal Audit, National Payment Systems Department and the Finance Directorate.
Byarugaba holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting) and Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance for Development from Milan, Italy. He holds a Professional Qualification in Accounting, ACCA (is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – FCCA).
He is also a full member of the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants of Uganda ICPAU, as well as a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) awarded by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), which is an international professional association focused on IT (information technology) governance.
He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Defined Benefits Scheme (alternate chair of Investment sub-committee) and Defined Contributions Scheme (Chairman), and previously served as a Board member for IIA Uganda.
Enterprise Foundation Limited (EUg), the legal arm of Enterprise Uganda, is a public-private institution designed to support the government in realising its objective of promoting the development of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to become the primary vehicle for expanding production, providing sustainable jobs and enhancing economic growth.
It matches young entrepreneurs between 18-35 years old to established, qualified, and experienced business mentors who provide non-financial support and guidance.
