Pearl Bank officials hand over a dummy cheque to officials of the Emorimor
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Pearl Bank has extended a generous hand to support the Teso Run and the fourth coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot, the Emorimor of Teso, by procuring 100 kits and committing to promote financial literacy and environmental conservation in the sub-region.
The bank confirmed its participation in the two-day celebrations that were scheduled for October 16 and 17, 2026, in Soroti District, under the theme “For the Child,” demonstrating its commitment to community empowerment, cultural preservation and sustainable development.
The initiative brought together cultural leaders, businesses and community members to celebrate the heritage of the Teso people while mobilising support for children, education and other community development programmes.
Pearl Bank Soroti Branch Manager Godfrey Otene said the bank’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to communities in which it operates.
“Supporting Teso Run 2026 aligns with our Corporate Social Investment (CSI) agenda, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, financial literacy, community empowerment and preservation of culture for future generations,” Otene said.
He added that empowering individuals and communities was essential to national development, emphasising that the bank believes that when communities grow, the entire country benefits.
“We believe empowered communities make stronger contributions to the development of our country, because when an individual or community grows, Uganda prospers,” he said.
Beyond providing 100 kits for the event, Pearl Bank will use the celebrations to engage participants in financial literacy sessions aimed at equipping them with practical knowledge to manage their finances and improve their economic wellbeing.
The sessions will focus on promoting a culture of saving, responsible borrowing and informed financial decision-making, particularly among individuals and households seeking to strengthen their financial security.
Priscilla Akora, Pearl Bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications said the bank’s involvement reflects its broader purpose of fostering prosperity for Ugandans through initiatives that create meaningful and sustainable community impact.
She noted that the partnership provides an opportunity for the bank to connect with residents, understand their financial needs and demonstrate how appropriate financial services can support individuals, businesses and communities.
“Our purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans, and financial literacy is a critical tool for economic transformation,” Otene said, explaining the rationale behind the bank’s planned engagement with participants.
During the celebrations, Pearl Bank will also establish an exhibition space where its team will interact with customers, offer financial guidance and showcase its range of products and services.

The engagement is expected to provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about banking services, savings options and responsible access to credit, while encouraging greater participation in the formal financial system.
Environmental conservation will also feature prominently in the partnership. Activities will begin on October 16 with tree planting and financial literacy engagements before culminating in the Teso Run on October 17.
Otene welcomed the inclusion of tree planting, describing environmental protection as a shared responsibility that requires the participation of individuals, institutions and communities.
“We are proud to support initiatives that contribute to environmental protection, conservation and sustainability,” he said.
The bank’s participation is anchored in its Corporate Social Investment framework, guided by the principles of Scale, Impact and Sustainability (SIS). The framework supports interventions in education, financial literacy, health, environmental protection and other areas that contribute to community wellbeing.
Toto Nosianta Emechu, the Chairperson of the Council of the Iteso Cultural Union, welcomed Pearl Bank’s contribution, describing the partnership as an important gesture towards preserving the cultural identity and traditions of the Teso people.
He noted that the Emorimor’s coronation anniversary provides an opportunity for communities to celebrate their shared history and values while strengthening unity and a sense of belonging among the Iteso.
The bank’s support also reflects its wider commitment to financial inclusion and entrepreneurship. With a history dating back to 1926, when it operated as a Post Office Savings Department, Pearl Bank has evolved through PostBank Uganda Limited into an institution focused on expanding access to savings and credit services.
In 2023, the bank embarked on a five-year strategic plan aligned with its tagline, “Grow. Prosper,” and its purpose of “Fostering Prosperity for Ugandans.”
