HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Former NBS TV news anchor, Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, has called on singer Ibrahim Mayanja, popularly known as Big Eye, to support his campaign after he was chosen as the National Unity Platform (NUP) parliamentary candidate for Nansana Municipality.
Zambali won the party’s nomination over a field of four candidates, which included Big Eye. Speaking about the upcoming campaign, Zambali said he would be delighted to have the singer’s backing when campaigns kick off on November 10th.
He emphasized that while NUP selected him for certain strengths he brought to the race, this did not diminish the qualities his competitors, including Big Eye, possess.
Big Eye, through his Facebook page, congratulated Zambali on the victory and encouraged his fans to rally behind him, showing no bitterness over the party’s decision.
Zambali also shared that the vetting process was stressful, particularly because some of his preferred candidates for councillor positions did not make the final cut. He noted that NUP delayed releasing the final shortlist to reduce the number of independent candidacies that could affect the party’s overall objectives.
The former Barometer Show presenter added that his popularity among voters is largely due to his media career, which gave him a platform to engage with communities on real issues. He believes this experience equips him to serve effectively in elective politics.
