HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Veteran singer Red Banton has shocked fans after revealing that the late Mowzey Radio frequently appears to him in dreams — demanding that his long-overdue last funeral rites be performed.
According to Banton, it has now been seven years since the Goodlyfe legend passed on, yet the traditional ceremony has never been held — something he says Radio constantly reminds him about from the afterlife.
“Radio often appears to me in dreams, talking about his last funeral rites,” Banton said. “He once told me he’s at peace where he is, but wants the ceremony done. In that dream, he wore his favorite army boots.”
The Nonya Money singer also recounted a bizarre encounter in Makindye, where he says he saw Radio appear in a sleeveless shirt, driving a GMC, and offering him a lift while he was stranded looking for transport.
But that’s not all — Banton claims the fallen star even gave him a new song during one of the dreams, a track he plans to release soon in Radio’s memory.
He has since called on Lillian Mbabazi, Radio’s widow and a member of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), to take the lead in organizing the long-delayed ritual.
“I’m appealing to Lillian Mbabazi to act on this,” Banton emphasized. “She’s part of the UNMF leadership, and this ceremony needs to happen.”
Radio, who was one half of the iconic Goodlyfe Duo alongside Weasel, remains one of Uganda’s most loved musicians. His death in 2018 left a lasting void in the industry, and fans continue to celebrate his legacy through his timeless hits.
