HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I The security guard accused of the rape, murder and aggravated robbery of popular TikToker Diana Namulinde, alias Diana Skyz, is likely to face a tough legal battle after prosecution outlined a compelling case linking him to the brutal crime.
Marvin Webisa, 22, a guard attached to Gideon Security Systems and a resident of Kiwatule Zone in Nakawa Division, was on Thursday arraigned before the City Hall Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate, Nicholas Aisu, where charges were formally read to him.
Prosecution led by Senior State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho Khaidarah told court that on February 4, 2026, at Kyanja Kwata Zone, Webisa unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the deceased without her consent, before murdering her and making away with her valuables. The charges include rape, murder and aggravated robbery, offences that attract the severest penalties under Ugandan law.
According to court documents, investigators recovered crucial evidence linking the accused directly to the crime scene and the victim’s stolen property. Among the items allegedly taken were mobile phones, a power bank, AirPods, a suitcase, a handbag and Shs18.6 million in cash.
Prosecution sources indicate that digital forensic evidence, including mobile phone tracking data, places the accused at the victim’s residence during the time the offences were committed. In addition, preliminary forensic findings reportedly connect the suspect to biological material recovered from the scene, significantly strengthening the case.
Detectives are also relying on CCTV footage and witness testimonies that allegedly trace the accused’s movements before and after the murder, painting a clear sequence of events that prosecutors believe will firmly establish his guilt.
Although Webisa did not take plea because the offences can only be tried by the High Court, the prosecution informed court that investigations are nearing completion.
The magistrate remanded the accused to Luzira Prison until March 3, when the case will return to court for mention, as the Directorate of Public Prosecutions prepares to commit the matter to the High Court for trial.
If convicted, Webisa faces a possible death sentence, underscoring the gravity of the charges and the strength of the prosecution’s case.
