Zari and Shakib jump into the marriage bed, again
HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Social media detractors who celebrated the reported collapse of Zari Hassan and Shakib Cham Lutaaya’s marriage have been left disappointed after the celebrity couple reconciled, revealing that the breakup stemmed from a moment of frustration rather than an irreversible decision.
Just days after Zari announced that her marriage had ended because of what she described as “irreconcilable differences,” the couple reunited during a romantic getaway in Uganda, publicly confirming that they had decided to put their relationship back on track.
Their reconciliation has been attributed to several factors, including Zari’s admission that her public breakup announcement was driven by emotion, Shakib’s determination not to give up on the marriage, and the couple’s shared belief that their relationship was worth fighting for.
The initial split came in June 2026 after Zari openly accused Shakib of becoming overly insecure about her interactions with her former partner and Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz. The accusations fueled speculation that the marriage had reached a breaking point, prompting widespread debate across social media.
However, the mood changed dramatically after the couple reunited and shared a light-hearted video in which they joked about the breakup that had dominated entertainment headlines.
In the video, Shakib playfully questioned what had prompted Zari to publicly announce the end of their marriage.
“What had gotten into you? Were you possessed? There might be forces inside of your head that speak to you and if you don’t have God, you may end up going,” Shakib joked.
Rather than defending her earlier decision, Zari laughed before admitting that her husband had refused to let the relationship end.
“I think that you forcefully pulled me back into this marriage,” she said, suggesting that Shakib remained committed even after she had publicly declared the relationship over.
Shakib, however, rejected the suggestion that he had forced a reconciliation, insisting that he had always been confident the marriage would survive.
“I don’t think so. I think you want this marriage and you have stated publicly in the past that it is your final relationship. God listened to and responded to your prayers, so you are going nowhere,” he replied.
His remarks reflected his belief that Zari’s announcement had been made in frustration rather than as a genuine desire to permanently end the marriage.
Zari acknowledged that she had noticed Shakib’s unwavering confidence throughout the difficult period.
“I saw that you were confident,” she said.
Shakib explained that his calm approach was rooted in his conviction that he had done nothing to warrant the end of the marriage.
“I was confident because I knew I had nothing wrong,” he said.
His refusal to panic or retaliate appears to have played a key role in convincing Zari to reconsider her decision, ultimately leading to the reconciliation.
The reunion also gave the couple an opportunity to address critics who had celebrated news of their separation.
Shakib particularly criticised social media personalities who encouraged the breakup, singling out controversial TikToker Sharon Mutesi, popularly known as Ssenga Acid.
“I saw some people, Ssenga Acid, praising you for making the right decision to leave me. That woman is mad. She is harmless but sometimes she goes overboard,” he said.
They laughed together over the incident and publicly expressed renewed commitment to each other, vowing to love each other for life.
There is no doubt that Zari and Shakib’s reconciliation has transformed what appeared to be a permanent breakup into a story of forgiveness, persistence and a shared commitment to making their relationship work despite intense public scrutiny.
