HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I A few minutes from now, the bodyguard to the National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi will shortly be aligned in the Masaka court, Habari Daily can confirm.
Edward Ssebufu, who is popularly known as Eddie Mutwe, who was reportedly abducted by security operatives in Mukono District on April 27, was a few hours ago dropped at the Masaka High court by unknown characters disguised as security operatives.
According to eye witnesses, journalists have been barred from covering the proceeds of the case, after being ordered to vacate the premises.
“He was visibly weak and could hardly walk. He only limped, being guided by his handlers,” said an eyewitness on condition of anonymity. He is awaiting his appearance in the dock. He is expected to be charged with an undisclosed offence.
Currently Ssebuufu is being held in the court cell, after which he will be presented before the presiding magistrate.
His whereabouts have been unknown until social media was flooded with a series of posts on X, where the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugabai, said his soldiers had captured Ssebuufu “liked a grasshopper” and he was learning Runyankore, a language spoken in western Uganda, while in custody.
He said he would only release the bodyguard if ordered to do so by President Yoweri Museveni.
