HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Singer and Member of Parliament Geoffrey Lutaaya has come out to defend his wife, Irene Namatovu, over claims that she is behind his alleged neglect of a child from a previous relationship.
In recent weeks, Lutaaya made headlines after a young girl identified as Mellan Lutaaya accused him of abandoning her and failing to pay her school fees. The matter, which was amplified on social media, led many to speculate that Irene was influencing her husband’s decisions regarding his other family.
However, during a televised interview, the “Oli Miss” singer and legislator rubbished the allegations, describing them as baseless attacks aimed at tarnishing both his and Irene’s image.
“People have failed to bring me down, so they target my wife instead,” Lutaaya said. “She hasn’t bewitched me like some claim — she simply has God’s favor. Irene prays a lot and always moves with her rosary.”
The Busiro South MP emphasized that he has continued to fulfill his parental duties and even possesses evidence of payments to prove it. He blamed the ongoing drama on individuals seeking attention and social media traffic.
“They know nothing about the truth. Some people just want likes and views. But we are not moved by that,” he added.
Lutaaya and Namatovu, who recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary, have long been regarded as one of Uganda’s most admired celebrity couples.
