HABARI DAILY I Kampala, Uganda I Pearl Bank has launched a new campaign dubbed “When You Grow Uganda Prospers”, reaffirming its commitment to fostering prosperity for Ugandans by financing businesses, entrepreneurs and other productive sectors of the economy.
The campaign builds on the bank’s purpose of “Foster Prosperity for Ugandans” and its tagline, “Grow. Prosper.” It seeks to demonstrate how supporting individual businesses and enterprises can create a wider economic impact through job creation, value addition, tax generation and increased production.
According to a media statement issued today, the campaign reflects the institution’s belief that the growth of individual Ugandans and businesses is directly linked to national development.
“When we finance a business, whether in Agriculture, Tourism, Minerals, Manufacturing, Science and Technology or any other key economic sector, we are enabling that entrepreneur to employ several other Ugandans. When that business grows, ultimately Uganda prospers,” Pearl Bank managers said.
They added that businesses supported by the bank can contribute to import substitution by increasing local production and value addition for both domestic consumption and export markets.
“This generates revenue for the country, taxes and employment for Ugandans who pay taxes directly or indirectly, hence boosting the growth and prosperity of Uganda,” the managers said.
Pearl Bank, which adopted its new identity from PostBank in June last year, said the rebrand was much more than a change of name. It was designed to reflect the transformation of the institution into a digitally progressive, inclusive, homegrown and nationally grounded financial institution.
The bank said the new identity also demonstrates its readiness to embrace the future while maintaining its commitment to long-term growth, relevance and national impact.
A major part of this strategy is expanding financial inclusion through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise financing, agricultural loans, school-fees financing, business loans and digital financial services.
Through its digital platforms, including the Pearl Bank App, USSD and Wendi Mobile Wallet, customers can access financial services, make payments and save money.
The bank illustrates this impact through the example of a maize farmer in Rakai who obtains agricultural inputs on credit, sells produce to contracted buyers, receives payment through a Pearl Bank account and subsequently uses the Pearl App to pay school fees and save through Wendi for the next farming season.
Such a financial cycle, the bank says, demonstrates how financial inclusion can simultaneously support entrepreneurship and household welfare.
Pearl Bank’s campaign comes as Uganda pursues an ambitious target of growing its economy to $500 billion by 2040, under Vision 2040 and the tenfold growth agenda.
The bank said financial institutions have a critical role in complementing Government efforts by providing appropriate financing to agriculture, minerals, manufacturing, science and technology, health, education and other sectors.
Meanwhile, customers are being encouraged to replace their old PostBank ATM cards and cheque books as the transition to the Pearl Bank identity continues. Customers can visit their nearest Pearl Bank branch with identification before December 2026 for cheque books and January 2027 for ATM cards.
